48 hours in NYC

Maybe Bridget feels like it was twice that long?

We checked out the Christmas shops at Grand Central Station (knit hats for $50 or $60??).

We stood in line for MOMA and lucked out with free tickets to the Van Gogh exhibit.

We did lots of walking.

Yesterday we spent a few hours at the Guggenheim Museuem

where we saw a spectacular phototgraphy exhibit, although the body piercing was a little less riveting (sorry) than the monochromatic snow scenes--probably that's a comment on my upbringing.

We ate often, saw "Rachel Getting Married," a good dysfunctional family movie (elope, elope, elope....) and spent some time at Bridget's neighborhood (NOT Starbuck's) coffee shop.

No pictues, but noticeable:

  • When it snows in NYC, the natives bring out their umbrellas.

  • Bridget enjoys eavesdropping as much as I do. We did not leave the restaurant last night until the couple beside us (second date maybe? getting to know you...) decided whether or not to continue the evening. They did.

  • Once again Vamoose was a winner. I had two seats to myself today, the bus left about 45 minutes earlier than my reservation, and we all cheered when the hysterical, screaming 7-year-old stuck in the bathroom was finally able to follow directions and OPEN THE DOOR.
