another lineup
The date on this is 1941, and that is Bert, Frank, Bea, Florence, Art (Dad), Jim, and their mother (Martha Newton). I am impressed by the girth of Uncle Bert and the trimmness of all the other brothers. I can't see Uncle Frank without smelling a cold beer on a hot day, which was pretty exotic in our house when I was young. When he came to visit, which wasn't that often, he and Dad would sit in the living room and have a beer, and that is about the only time I can remember Dad having a beer while I was growing up.
On the weather front, it was 72 degrees here yesterday. We now have a line of tulips about 3 inches tall in the garden, and the koi that were hibernating at the bottom of the fish pond have risen to the top to be fed.
It was our turn to host the biweekly potluck dinner tonight. The only mistake I made was to triple the tuna noodle casserole recipe I used. This one skips the mushroom soup and potato chips for a white sauce, peas, and some roasted red pepper. It worked, but there were only 8 of us here tonight, and 4 other casseroles, Tom's horseradish pot roast, and a crock pot of sauerkraut and sausage. Ed, we needed you.
